This year KNR is celebrating our 15th Anniversary, and as you can imagine, we started reminiscing. Over the years, we’ve fought hard for injury victims across Ohio, but we’re just as proud of our work in the communities we serve.
Here’s a look back at some of our favorite KNR Cares events and the difference we helped make, as we continue working to make the rest of 2020 even better.
KNR froze our bodies and warmed our hearts at the 17th Annual Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump. Together with our community, we were able to raise $30,160 for Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs and the Ronald McDonald House of Akron.
At KNR, we’ve seen firsthand the dangers of distracted driving. We developed the scholarship as part of our commitment to combat texting and driving practices by raising awareness to the specific danger absentminded driving presents while providing financial help to a deserving student.
We partnered with Project MKC, an organization dedicated to helping children in the Northeast Ohio community, and collected 7,222 diapers for families in need.
Volunteers from Team KNR took 12 Littles from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Ohio shopping for all of the summer essentials at Meijer in Columbus. Our shopping spree totaled $3,000 at the register, checking off boxes on the shopping list for an assortment of clothing – including shorts, t-shirts, tennis shoes, flip flops, swimsuits, undergarments, and pajamas.
In honor of June being National Safety Month, we donated over 500 helmets throughout Ohio. We kicked off the month by giving out 25 helmets to lucky winners via our social media giveaway. Then, we donated 300 helmets to YMCA of Youngstown camp goers as well as 200 helmets to the YMCA of Toledo.
Our 6th Annual Coats & Cans for Kids Turkey Giveaway was perhaps our biggest yet. Once again, we gave away 1,000 turkeys, provided 87,102 meals to those in need through the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, and collected 408 coats for Providence House and the May Dugan Center, organizations committed to helping families with young children.
Every year, KNR tries to ease the burden of going back to school. This time we gave away 250 backpacks across Ohio, filled to the brim with items like pencils, pens, notebooks, markers, glue, paper, scissors, crayons and other vital school supplies.
At KNR, we celebrated the holiday season by giving a little back, hopefully inspiring others to do the same. Over the course of two weeks in December, we baked cookies, gave away stockings, paid off layaways, made blankets and a lot more.
KNR pitched in at an event hosted by the nonprofit that included fun activities like face painting and games to get kids excited about nutrition. We helped raise over $1,500 for the CHA and surprised them with new healthy eating toys and playsets.
KNR celebrated National Literacy Month with a firm-wide book drive benefiting children’s hospitals across Ohio. Between staff and public donations, we received 2,393 new books. But KNR kept going and with our 1:1 match, a total of 4,786 books were gifted!
The team at KNR truly goes above and beyond for our clients and their communities. Their positivity and kindness makes KNR what it is, and we’re proud of all their efforts to inspire and benefit others.
