AKRON, OH (February 28, 2026) – The team at Kisling, Nestico & Redick (KNR) is once again braving icy waters in support of local families in need, participating in this year’s Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump to benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Now in its ninth year participating in the event, KNR surpassed its fundraising goal, raising a total of $20,646.70. This year’s team includes 20 jumpers, including 15 new participants, and seven dedicated supporters (affectionately known as “chickens”) who are helping raise funds while staying warm and dry.

The Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank plays a critical role in fighting hunger across the region, serving neighbors in Carroll, Holmes, Medina, Portage, Stark, Summit, Tuscarawas, and Wayne counties. With every $1 providing enough food for three meals, contributions from events like the Polar Bear Jump help deliver a meaningful and immediate impact for families facing food insecurity throughout the region.

“We are deeply grateful to KNR for their enthusiastic participation and generous support of the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump,” said Foodbank President and CEO Dan Flowers. “Their willingness to brave the cold alongside our community sends a powerful message about what it means to show up for neighbors experiencing hunger.”

Since first joining the Polar Bear Jump in 2013, KNR has raised $189,446 to support impactful local organizations, including the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs, and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio. This year, all proceeds from the jump will directly support the Foodbank’s mission to fight hunger across the region.

“Each year, our team looks forward to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families,” said John J. Reagan, Managing Partner at KNR. “Taking the plunge is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together for a cause bigger than ourselves.”

The Polar Bear Jump remains a signature community tradition, bringing together local organizations, businesses, and residents in support of vital nonprofit services across Northeast Ohio. It is also serving as the kick-off event for the 2026 KNR Cares initiative, an ongoing commitment to giving back to communities across Ohio.
