Our client was visiting an attorney’s office with her son. As she walked up the steps to the lawyer’s office, the steps gave way throwing her 10 feet to the ground. The fall resulted in a de-gloving of her foot and a compound comminuted heal fracture requiring an open reduction internal fixation. The facts of this premises liability allowed recovery because counsel was able to make a coherent argument that the staircase was not up to code and thus provided notice to the property owner of a dangerous condition. The case settled for $200,000.
