AKRON, Ohio (WOIO) -This May, in recognition of National Water Safety Month and ahead of the busy summer swim season, Kisling, Nestico & Redick (KNR) is reinforcing its commitment to protecting Ohio’s children by funding swim lessons across the state.

The effort is part of the Nanye Barber Tribute Fund, established in 2024 following the tragic drowning of 15-year-old Nanye Barber. Created in partnership with Nanye’s mother, Darnita Timmons, the fund honors his memory by helping prevent future water-related tragedies

According to the CDC, an estimated 4,000 unintentional drownings occur each year in the U.S.—about 11 per day.

“As KNR celebrates 20 years of service to the people of Ohio, we remain focused on giving back in meaningful ways,” said Nomiki P. Tsarnas, Senior Partner at KNR. “Nothing matters more than protecting children, and through this fund and in Nanye’s name, we’re providing children across the state with the life-saving gift of water safety.”
