NEW FRANKLIN — The team at Kisling, Nestico & Redick (KNR) once again braved the icy waters in support of local families in need, participating in this year’s Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump to benefit the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.

Now in its ninth year participating in the event, KNR surpassed its fundraising goal, raising a total of $20,647. According to company officials, this year’s team included 20 jumpers, 15 of them first-time participants, along with seven supporters (affectionately known as “chickens”) who helped raise funds while staying warm and dry.

“We are deeply grateful to KNR for their enthusiastic participation and generous support of the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Jump,” said Foodbank President and CEO Dan Flowers. “Their willingness to brave the cold alongside our community sends a powerful message about what it means to show up for neighbors experiencing hunger.”

Since first joining the Polar Bear Jump in 2013, KNR has raised $189,446 to support local organizations, including the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank, Rotary Camp for Children with Special Needs and Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio. All proceeds from this year’s jump directly supported the Foodbank’s mission to fight hunger across the region. Every $1 provided enough food for three meals, according to KNR officials.

“Each year, our team looks forward to supporting organizations that make a meaningful difference in the lives of local families,” said John Reagan, managing partner at KNR. “Taking the plunge is a powerful reminder of what our community can accomplish when we come together for a cause bigger than ourselves.”

The Polar Bear Jump brings together local organizations, businesses and residents in support of nonprofit services across Northeast Ohio. The event also served as the kick-off for the 2026 KNR Cares initiative, reflecting the firm’s ongoing commitment to giving back to communities across Ohio, according to company officials.
