HUBBARD, Ohio (WKBN) – Sometimes a good thing can come from tragedy. There are free swim lessons for Ohio kids to anyone who would like to sign up.
Nanye Barber, 15, died in a community pool in Northwest Ohio in 2021.
Attorney Nomiki Tsarnas worked the case and grew close with Nanye’s family. Kisling, Nestico & Redick teamed up with the family, launching an initiative across Ohio.
“We created the Nanye Barber Tribute Fund, which provides free swim lessons to children across Ohio. Last year, we had 80 participants. We hope to see more numbers this year,” Tsarnas said.
To sign your child up, go to Kisling, Nestico & Redick’s website. You’ll need to fill out a form and select a participating school.
“The closest one to us is the Hubbard Community Pool and every child that gets these swim lessons is honoring Nanye’s memory,” Tsarnas said.
It’s a fantastic opportunity, but act fast — the deadline to sign up is Friday at midnight.
