Our LocationsFAIRLAWN, Ohio (WOIO) – Kisling, Nestico & Redick will distribute 1,000 free turkeys Tuesday in exchange for canned goods or gently used coats during the law firm’s 13th annual turkey giveaway.
The event runs starting at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, at the firm’s office. People can walk up, take the Metro RTA or drive through the Market Street entrance.
“We’re giving away 1,000 free turkeys, we’ve been doing this for 13 years, so that’s about 13,000 turkeys,” said founding partner Rob Nestico.
Participants need to bring a canned good item or a gently used coat to receive a turkey. KNR employees will collect donations and distribute turkeys in return.
“People will bring a canned good item or a gently used coat, and in exchange we hand them a turkey,” managing partner John Reagan said.
Donations will go to Volunteers of America and the Akron Regional Foodbank.
Founding partner Rob Nestico said the giveaway addresses community needs during difficult economic times.
“We started this during a time when people were having a tough time making ends meet, and being Italian, I like feeding people so we thought, why not Thanksgiving, that’s the perfect opportunity to do that,” Nestico said.
He said the firm looks forward to the annual event.
“It’s a warm feeling if you will, putting food in people’s hands, not going through different channels getting to hear from them and their stories,” Nestico said.
People typically line up outside early for the event. KNR will accept canned goods and coats throughout the month for those who miss Tuesday’s giveaway.
