2026 KNR Coats & Cans for Kids Turkey Giveaway

When and where is the turkey giveaway?

The KNR Coats & Cans for Kids Turkey Giveaway will be on Veteran’s Day, Tuesday, November 11th from 11am until we run out, in the parking lot of our Akron office located at 3412 W. Market St., Fairlawn.

How does it work?

Community members can pay it forward by bringing a gently used coat or any non-perishable food item to donate at our Akron office on November 11th. In exchange, they can choose a free turkey or ham while supplies last. Community members may drive through or walk up to participate. Turkey and ham selections are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are not guaranteed.

Please place your donation in your trunk, and our team will collect it and replace it with a turkey.

What’s new this year?

For the first time, we will offer a limited number of hams in addition to turkeys! Each household may choose one turkey or one ham while supplies last. Quantities of each will be limited, so selections cannot be guaranteed.

Can I receive both a turkey and a ham?

No. Each eligible household may receive one item—either a turkey or a ham.

Is there a wait?

Yes. Turkeys and hams are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis, so the line may be long. We will have the Fairlawn Police directing traffic on the street and KNR Volunteers directing traffic in the lot to help move the line along.

Can I get in line early?

No. For the safety of our staff, volunteers and neighboring businesses, the parking lots will remain closed until the event begins at 11:00 a.m.

Free bus rides

METRO RTA is offering free rides on their Direct Service all day long for Veteran’s Day.

Other Important notes:

• Turkeys and hams cannot be reserved or held.

• The public will not have access to the inside of the building during the giveaway.
