The weather brought a touch of winter to an otherwise warm day as cars lined up through dual parking lots and down the street, each waiting for one of 1,000 Thanksgiving turkeys during KNR’s 12th Annual Coats & Cans for Kids Turkey Giveaway.
Our Akron office served as the heart of this special event. Generous community members contributed canned goods and gently used coats, making a tangible impact on local families this holiday season. These donations will go a long way in helping those in need.
For those who needed a ride, Metro RTA provided free rides to and from the event using free vouchers we supplied. Many attendees visited our Walk-Up Tent, where they exchanged their donations for a turkey and enjoyed spinning the prize wheel to win fun KNR items like keychains, potholders, and bags.
The day was filled with laughter, joy, and holiday cheer as our elves, turkeys, and special guests, Santa, and Mrs. Claus greeted attendees and handed out candy canes.
The giveaway began at 11:00 a.m. and concluded swiftly as our staff distributed all 1,000 turkeys to donors. Alongside the turkeys, we collected:
These contributions were donated to the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Volunteers of America Ohio and Indiana Chapter. Thanks to the combined efforts of our community and staff, these donations will help feed local families and keep homeless veterans and their families warm this winter.
Before the event, KNR staff kickstarted the holiday spirit by collecting cans and coats at each of our offices, contributing:
With these donations added to the community’s efforts, we proudly delivered a total of 5,499 pounds of food and 590 coats to those in need.
At KNR, our commitment to making a difference goes beyond the courtroom. We believe in the power of kindness and service to overcome challenges and uplift our communities. We are incredibly grateful for the generosity and support shown during this event and look forward to continuing these efforts in the future.
Together, we can build a stronger, more compassionate Ohio.
