“Ceremonies are important. But our gratitude has to be more than visits to the troops, and once-a-year Memorial Day ceremonies. We honor the dead best by treating the living well.”- Jennifer M. Granholm.
KNR headed to Green Lawn Cemetery in Columbus this week to volunteer ahead of Memorial Day Weekend. Our staff rolled up their sleeves and cleaned soldiers’ gravestones while listening to the rich history of the 84-acre cemetery. Green Lawn Cemetery hosts over 154,000 graves, with 6,000 dedicated to fallen soldiers.
Memorial Day allows us to remember and honor these soldiers’ sacrifices to protect this country. To repay their service, even if it was just a little, our staff wanted to help keep the symbols of their lives pristine for their families and loved ones for Memorial Day. In total, we were able to clean 47 graves.
