September marks the start of National Literacy Month, a time dedicated to celebrating the transformative power of reading and writing. Literacy is more than just a fundamental skill; it empowers individuals and strengthens communities by fostering knowledge, communication, and opportunity.
In support of this important cause, KNR organized a book drive across all of our offices to contribute to the Dayton Book Fair. Thanks to the collective efforts of our staff, KNR proudly donated 682 books to this year’s annual sale. Our donation reflects our commitment to supporting the incredible work the Book Fair Foundation has done for the Dayton community for over 50 years.
Held each November at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds in Dayton, Ohio, the Dayton Book Fair is the largest of its kind in the state. The event, which takes place on the second weekend of November, features a wide array of donated books, movies, toys, and other items for sale. Proceeds from the fair are then awarded as grants to local nonprofit organizations.
Since its founding in 1970, the Dayton Book Fair has provided a meaningful way for community members to donate cherished items while supporting local causes. Over the past five decades, the Book Fair Foundation has donated more than $2 million to various organizations in the Miami Valley region, making a lasting impact on the community.
Each year, three nonprofits are selected to receive the proceeds from the book fair. This year’s beneficiaries include the Bach Society of Dayton, the Beaver Creek Wetlands Association, and Have a Gay Day, all of which contribute to the cultural, environmental, and social well-being of the Dayton area.
