Tom Vasvari was born in Struthers, Ohio, where his family worked in steel mills and were active in politics. Tom decided to become an attorney in grade school and has never waivered from this ambition as he has now been practicing law for over 20 years. After his first semester of law school at Case Western Reserve University, Tom served as a law clerk to a group of prominent Youngstown attorneys. From that experience, he knew he wanted to represent injured people and the “underdogs” who needed an attorney to level an unfair playing field.

After law school, Tom was invited to practice with the same attorneys who employed him as a law clerk. He was also invited to serve as a staff attorney in Ohio’s Seventh District Court of Appeals. There he learned from the best (and worst) attorneys as they argued their most complex cases to the appellate court.

Since leaving the Court of Appeals, Tom tried many cases with his mentor and former law partner, Clair M. Carlin. Carlin was president of the Ohio Academy of Trial Lawyers and Tom benefited greatly from serving on the board of trustees and as co-chair of the negligence law committee of that organization. In that capacity, Tom frequently planned and spoke at seminars designed to help attorneys sharpen their trial skills. It was during this time that Tom gained perspective through his role as acting judge in the Struthers Municipal Court. There, he was required to make rulings and decisions on civil and criminal cases.

In 2002, Tom began practicing law with Gary Kisling, Rob Nestico, and Robert Redick. He quickly found they shared a passion for representing injured people who simply need help and for doing what it takes to provide that help. He has since tried many cases with Kisling, Nestico and Redick and has had the opportunity to argue before the Ohio Supreme Court on behalf of Ohio auto insurance consumers.

In 2007, Tom was privileged to take on the opportunity of managing the Youngstown office of KNR – the role in which he currently serves.
